![The Wooting UwU Stealth Edition: a black three-key keypad](./uwu-stealth.jpg) I finally have done it! I have completely gotten rid of my keyboard. Gone are the days of trying to think I was cool with neovim, gone are the days of getting used to the home row: `asdfjkl;'`! Today, I speak, AI builds. And it's all because of this cute little [UwU keypad](https://wooting.io/uwu) by [wooting](https://wooting.io/)! A while back I saw [this tweet](https://x.com/thepetermick/status/2103875676352676037?s=46) and immediately sent it to my buddy who got into the laziest habit I have ever seen - talking to his AI. ![A tweet by @ThePeterMick reading "modern keyboard for software developers", with a photo of a two-key keypad: a microphone key and a Yes key](./tweet-full.jpg) When I first saw him press `fn` on his mac and start talking, I laughed. It just felt so fucking lazy. I mean, Claude was already writing all of our code, did we really need to remove ourselves further? And then I saw the tweet - why not replace our keyboards too! We both laughed and went on with our day/week/month. But the idea stuck with me. I love to give gifts, I'm bad with money, and giving gifts is my love language. And I thought, okay, what *if* I got him the keypad, just for shits and wiggles, a gag gift. So I started looking. I started looking in the place we all start - amazon. And boy, did I not like the offerings, everything easily searched for was cheap, not usb-c, or just shady as hell ( I don't trust anything you plug into a computer ). Note, when I give a gift, I don't insult my people with low quality anything - even for gag gifts. So I had my intern Claude, do some research for me - only two viable options came up: the [TogKey Duo](https://togkey.com/products/togkey-pad-duo-2-key-customizable-mini-macropad-with-qmk?srsltid=AU7gw4VjJejRoaY_XR_xSwLw0GJ9fNyKZAKN3qBCEtsWmIpWU3fpL3CR) and the [Wooting UwU](https://wooting.io/uwu) - and due to the 3d printed cheap nature of the Duo ( see my last no-cheap principle ), I bought and shipped a UwU. But after I pressed buy, I decided to get two of my own ( see? bad with money ). Fast forward a week, and my buddy got his first. I did not tell him, I got this for him, but I did send the following note: > It's probably from your secret admirer, and they'd want you to know the following: > > Keys: > > - Left - Wispr > - Middle - Enter > - Right - Tab Terminal > > *Ignore the "weebyness" of it ( or don't ) it's the best product without the security risk of shady amazon options.* He eventually found out who it was, gave me a call and already had his own setup. Hours later, I got my 2, and I was super impressed. The packaging, the fun random collectable keycaps, the carrying case and the actual keypad were very well done. I love the attention to detail. And then, I went to their website to set it up - I assumed there would be some downloadable bloatware ( which I was not excited for ), only to find out you can completely set it up and customize it all from the browser - FUCKING SICK! ( Note, this is not a sponsored post - but like, well done gents. ) I got it set up, played around and fell in love. Now, this story would not be complete if it didn't end in my compulsion to completely overengineer a solution to get the keypad to do exactly what I wanted it to. So, I set up a clean/fresh git repo ( one of my favorite feelings ) and got claude to work. The plan was simple: - `left key`: activate [Wispr](https://wisprflow.ai/) - allows me to talk to Claude - `middle key`: hop and focus between claude code sessions - `right key`: "Enter" So, I had Claude put together a mac app ( only using AppleScript and tools that ship with mac for maximum compatibility ) that extends the features of the keypad. I call it 3-Key Claude. Now my workflow is as follows: ![The 3-key Claude keypad pressing talk, hop and confirm in turn](./3kc-keypad-904.webp) My entire AI workflow is now, 3 buttons. Let me tell you, it's a game changer. I went from laughing at my buddy to completely assimilating - and it feels great. Oh, and guess what!? the UwU has three bottom buttons as well - and I've also made those into script macros ( that you can have claude help you set up. ) On my personal Computer: - `bottom left`: it ssh's into my mac mini, finds my `lego-legacy` repo and starts a claude session - this is a data preservation effort I've been working on - `bottom middle`: opens up my blog editor - `bottom right`: tabs over to my RuneScape session where I am currently working on 99 sailing I have even cooler/time saving macros on my work computer. So. Here we are. From a gag to a full app and new workflow. All I can say now, is I fully endorse it. Great Job [Wooting](https://wooting.io/uwu), thank you for the great product. If you'd like to try this out yourself, check out the [3KC ( 3 Key Claude )](https://constdecimalserrno.dev/3kc/) or make your own ( because software is cheap now ) Thanks for reading. I love you.
